The wearing of a bicycle helmet is now compulsory for children under 12 years of age, regardless of whether they are drivers or passengers.

Any adult carrying a non-helmeted child passenger or accompanying a group of unprotected children on bikes risks an on the spot fine of € 135.

The helmet should be marked NF or ECE.
