Hello Everyone

The clocks go back at the weekend. That’s good news for early morning dog walkers I guess. For me it means getting out there before the sun goes down in the evening. I’ve been so busy this week that I’ve had no time for a walk and I almost forgot to write this Newsletter before I go on holiday tomorrow! Tut tut. A quick word about the weather. Hot. Autumnal mornings or not, I can’t bring myself to download my winter wardrobe just yet.

Our Autumn Ball took place in Bages on Saturday 7 October. What a great evening! We sold about 80 tickets in the end, a lot of people waiting till the last minute to say yes – and they didn’t regret it. The Tombola almost ran itself – we made around €260, half goes to La Ligue. A glass of Cava was handed to everyone as they came through the door and by the time they found their seats, it was ready to start the Ball rolling. Music from Zircon accompanied us while we tucked into our Tapas – a selection of charcuterie, verrines, squares of pizza and a large plate of two cheeses. After the apple pie and cream there was more music and people felt the need to get up and dance. Those who had the energy stayed to the end. There were quite a few!
Photographs were taken and I think you’ll find some on our Facebook page. Thanks to the Bages Correspondent, we had a nice piece in L’Indépendant too.

OCTOBER ROSE is a special month for CSF
We were at the CH Perpignan and the Clinique St Pierre. At Perpignan’s large main hospital, a number of medical staff came to talk to us and also remarked on the new logo which they thought was very clear and actually explained what CSF do. The Clinique also gave us lots of time and distributed the new leaflets.

Our supporters were very generous and we had plenty of items for our Vide Grenier in Maureillas on the 8th October. We actually made €200! Many thanks to all who donated.

The amount of money taken is important but so is spreading the word. There were many French people who wanted to know more about our work and about cancer generally so a big thank you to those who got up early to set up, those who sat patiently all day and those who stayed to clear the decks at the end. Bravo!

TOUCHLINES, the newsletter of Cancer Support France, is available here.

The Trouillas Marché de Noel is held in the Stade André Sanac, Chemin du Stade. It’s not in the village of Trouillas but on D612, opposite the turning to the village.

Morag Todd has a table for her arts and crafts which she is very kindly sharing with CSF so that we can sell our Christmas Cards.
It is quite a big event. There are usually several charitable associations there as well as lots of arts and crafts. Also a Tombola and during the day there will be visits from Father Christmas.

Tea and coffee inside and vans outside selling crepes etc.

Looking ahead

A note for your diary, the AGM will be on Wednesday 31 January 2024. It will be a different venue. This time we are at the Ibis Styles Castelnaudary. Check it out – it looks rather nice.

Full details in the December Newsletter.

Please remember that if anyone is struggling or needing help, the CSF telephone and email helplines are always open.   We are there for everyone needing assistance at this time as well as for those affected by cancer. There is also lots of information on our website.
