Tribute to Sinatra and Friends....the ratpack in Perpignan

The first (second actually) ever appearance in France of a music show which pays homage to three of the greatest American crooners, which brings a taste of Las Vegas, a taste of London’s West End, to the Pyrénées Orientales.

Having toured extensively around the world, the original cast of the smash-hit show ‘Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas’, which ran for ten years in London’s West End, are making their way back to France. Four years ago, Ian Stephens brought the show ‘Sinatra & Friends’ to Amélie-les-Bains, where it was received very enthusiastically by the local audience, topped up by a good smattering of English-speakers. It’s now coming back, to Perpignan’s Palais des Congrès, on Tuesday 21st November 2023.

The show recreates on stage Frank Sinatra’s notorious Rat Pack evenings in Las Vegas in the 1960’s. In the original concerts, Sinatra invited his acolytes Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Junior to join him at the Sands Casino for fantastic evenings of swing, booze and banter. Here, three of the world’s best interpreters of those famous singers are accompanied on stage by their three delectable backing singers and a band of nine musicians, hand-drawn from the West End’s best orchestra pits.

What  the international press say

  • “Each performer is a master of his craft, but like the original Rat Pack, the real showbiz magic happens when all three work together. Brilliant!!” – Paul Phear (London’s Magic 105.4FM)
  • “Stephen Triffitt ‘IS’ Frank Sinatra” – Arts Desk
  • “If he wasn’t Mark Adams he would be Dean Martin” – BBC
  • “George Daniel Long is an uncannily convincing Sammy Davis Jr.” – Daily Mail
  • ‘Sinatra & friends’ has made three major tours of Germany, Switzerland and Austria, as well as performances in Luxembourg, Belgium, Spain and Turkey, in Dubai, Malaysia et Singapore.

Rat Pack epitomised cool in the 1960s. Their impromptu sell-out concerts caused a stir and attracted the rich and famous. This is an opportunity to take a trip back to a golden era to hear some of the best songs ever written, like ‘Fly me to the Moon’, ‘My Way’, ‘That’s Amore’, ‘Volare’, ‘King of the Road’, ‘Mr Bojangles’, ‘What Kind of Fool’, New York New York’ and lots, lots more.

Ian Stephens explained why the show is coming back to the Pyrénées Orientales: “When I brought the show to Amélie-les-Bains I needed a high quality technical provider for the sound and lights, and I was told that the only person for the job was Eric Carbonne. Eric provides technical support for most of the major festivals and venues of the area as well as organising some events himself. He is also an excellent ‘crooner’ in his own right, particularly in his renditions of Elvis’ songs. When he heard our three interpret their Rat Pack roles he said immediately that he wanted to bring the show back, to Perpignan this time, and we’ve been trying for four years to do just that.”
