Jazzèbre 2023

By Elaine Jacobs

Friday, 17 March, 19.00 at Castillet cinema, Perpignan

Next Friday, Castillet cinema in Perpignan is showing Cécile Allegra’s well-received film, Le Chant Des Vivants – a documentary about young refugees who were given a welcome and a place to stay in Aveyron. Once recovered from their ordeals, they got together in an “experience collective” centred on song.

The evening continues with l’ACAL66 (ASSOCIATION CATALANE D’ACTIONS ET DE LIAISONS) which, alongside the Pôle Asile and others, will present other cultural projects inspired and sometimes performed by these brave and adventurous souls.  .

Friday, 10 March, 21.00, Salle de l’Union, Ceret.

World Music fans have a double treat coming up in Céret next week!

Friday evening has Parranda La Cruz taking us on a virtual flight from Venezuela to the volcanic outre-mer island of La Réunion, taking in Amerindian and African music and culture along the way. The singing, dancing and percussion promise to stir hearts and souls.

Here’s a taster…
