Chris Hazell reports on the Catalan Dragon matches.

Catalan Dragons 18 – 10 Saint Helens

After the Dragons catastrophic loss against Wigan the previous weekend the fans were anxious about the match against St. Helens at Gilbert Brutus in Perpignan last Saturday.

Catalan Dragons v. St Helens

Saturday 06/04/2019.

St. Helens had not lost any of their 8 matches & were top of the table. The weather was dull and the pitch in poor condition after a rainy week. A 3rd minute try by Peyroux for the opposition was a blow but was matched with an 8th minute try by Yaha. The game, in bad conditions, was fairly balanced & the half-time score was 10-10.

We know the Dragons can be formidable at home & although the pitch was difficult & did not make for interesting play, the Dragons defense was outstanding in the second half & the sun came out.

A try & conversion plus a penalty kick gave Dragons the lead & St Helens recorded their first defeat of the season, the Dragons proving too strong for them & again, Sam Tomkins central to this superb win. A very happy group of fans left the ground on Saturday.

Allez les Dragons……
