The Association des Pupilles de l’Enseignement Public (ADPEP 66) has been organizing a tutoring service for hospitalized children for some thirty years. This service is provided by the Service d’Assistance pédagogique à Domicile des Pyrénées-Orientales (SAPAD 66).
This tutoring service provides a practising teacher, assisted by volunteer teachers, for children and teenagers at all levels of schooling admitted to the paediatric ward.

The actions implemented meet three essential objectives:
– Ensuring continuity of schooling in hospital for children and adolescents under care
– Maintaining links with the school
– Organising, if necessary, after discharge from hospital, schooling at home or in a care centre by SAPAD (Service d’Aide Pédagogique à Domicile).
