Drought, not pollution, was responsible for the death of more than 10 tons of fish in the river Agly this June, according to the results of an enquiry by the prefecture of Perpignan. Measures will be taken in the future to protect the fish during very dry spells.
In fact, despite some heavy rain showers over the summer months, the water shortage situation continues to be a problem in North Catalonia, and water restrictions continue to be enforced.
This includes *amongst other things, the use of water for leisure activities, washing your car and watering gardens. Failure to respect these restrictions could result in a fine of 1 500 to 3 000 €.
