A P-O Life Song …by Catherine King

Some of you may remember an old Flanders and Swann song, ‘A Song of the Weather’ (Check it out on YouTube.) I loved this song that my mother used to play to me on a wind up gramophone!
Hearing it recently, I started to think of life here, so I wrote a PO version. Hope you enjoy it

January skies are blue,
Sparkling seas reflect their hue.

February snow on hills,
Sledging, skiing, fun and spills.

March and blossom’s everywhere,
Peach and apple, plum and pear.

April spring is really here.
Cool rosé and ice cold beer.

May and time for the first cherry.
Long weekend and making merry.

June arrives and still no rain.
Constant sunshine, what a pain.

July brings us the Northern hordes.
Sailing, swimming paddle boards.

August summer saunters by.
Then suddenly the days just fly.

September and it’s ‘La Rentrée’.
It’s the end of holiday.

October vines are turning red.
Shorter days; early to bed.

vines and canigou

November time for walks and rambles.
Strolls and climbs and coastal scrambles.

December comes and “Oh mon Dieu
Another year’s gone. Sacré Bleu!
