Hallo Everyone
It always seemed so very ‘British’ to talk about the weather – but it has certainly been a dominant factor for many of us this year. As I type this the cooler nights are certainly welcome – as has been the smattering of rain we’ve received.
Drop Ins
Wednesday 7th October Bar le Pablo, Céret, 10.30
Come along for a coffee and a chat. There will be some paperbacks to exchange and friendly faces back in our usual venue in the centre of town.
Tuesday 20th October Café des Artistes, Laroque, 10.30
Come and browse our every-changing selection of paperbacks, and enjoy a coffee on the terrace. Any paperback books you contribute will be gratefully received, but we cannot take hardbacks or non-fiction.
Wednesday 21st October, Villa Lafabrègue, Prades, 10.15
After a summer pause in August, come and have coffee with us at this lovely venue, and bring a paperback or two to exchange.
With the problems all gardeners have experienced during this long hot summer, the plant-swap event we had hoped to hold in Prades in October has had to be cancelled. That will take place next year if at all possible.
DURING SEPTEMBER
Activity for Life was held on a beautiful day in Caixas. We were so lucky, that after some much-anticipated rain the day before, the morning turned out a little cooler but sunny. So, perfect for the two walks and a competitive but friendly game of petanque. After an energetic morning, eating cake could then be justified, along with a range savouries. The cakes were also much appreciated by French, German and Dutch friends.
Also popular was the Tombola with a tempting range of prizes (including rather a lot of bottles).
LOOKING AHEAD
November 2nd – Morag and Mike Todd welcome you to their home at 6 rue des Mourvèdres, 66300 Saint-Jean-Lasseille for tea, coffee and mulled wine, plus the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping for handmade necklaces, bracelets and other gifts. (See poster below.)
November 2nd – The popular CSF Quiz with afternoon tea is planned In the spacious Salle Gregory in Thuir. This is inside the ‘Maison du Citoyen, on Avenue du Docteur Francois Escoffier (opposite the Byrhh Cave). Ample parking nearby. This is so popular that you are asked to reserve a table before the 23rd October. Questions will be asked in English, and then in French. The poster for this event is here in English and in French, so please do pass on to any friends who might be interested.
