We don’t usually put property for sale here in local news, but this one really appealed to my twisted sense of humour!!

2 Castelnou 2

This charming renovated farmhouse has origins dating from the 13th Century and is full of character and original features including beams, exposed stone and exposed rock face with an interesting split-level layout; however what really sets it apart is the resident ghost. As you can imagine, estate agents get to visit a lot of properties and experiencing ‘weird’ sensations in certain homes kind of comes with the territory, however this house wins the spooky prize hands down. Even on a bright and sunny day this Mas manages to provoke creepy feelings and gets the hairs rising on the back of your neck – one client, upon stepping over the threshold, stated, “this house feels of death” turned around and returned to her car leaving the agent to go around the house on his own, in the semi-dark, closing shutters and switching off lights, all the time feeling the malevolent presence just inches behind him, mountainous goosebumps appearing on the back of his neck while the urge to flee became almost overwhelming…

At 620,000 Euros (agency fees included), the price is not as frightening a it looks, as the house is set within 2.5 hectares of land with 10 rooms comprised of 4 bedrooms, an office, a large lounge with inset fireplace, two kitchens, a pantry and bathroom. It is offered in good condition and boasts a large balcony and a terrace both of which command fabulous countryside views. If you’re looking for a property that is a bit out of the ordinary then this renovated Mas could be for you; one proviso though, if you wish to visit you have to promise to stick by my side all the way around, please don’t make me do it on my own!
