As we drive up the mountain through the village of Arles sur Tech, past Touron and round the corner on the left along Rue Baills Jean Vila there is my favourite petit bijou ….

Florence Losa, a small artisan chocolaterie. There, my dear friend Flo makes her delicious and healthy organic ‘chocolat cru’.

I am lucky enough to visit regularly and smell the amazing rich deep chocolate as she creates with love, care and attention her wonderful range of  raw chocolates with bio fruits, nuts and flowers and without the addition of milk or sugar, making them good for the heart, soul and health.

A STORM OF CHOCOLATEY FLAVOUR!

Florence Losa’s chocolate shop could just be your gran’s front room!

Walk straight in off the narrow streets of Arles sur Tech, and you will find her standing in her pinny, stirring up the latest chocolate storm. Fancy Lemon, Lime and Tyne centres? Or Basil? How about Ginger and Lime, Fig, Pear, Raspberry, a three tier Honey, Maca and White Chocolate? Or maybe you’d prefer Cherry and Armagnac, Chilli, Elder and Blueberry, Cherimoya, Orange and Lemon….or one of everything like me!

A BIT OF WHAT YOU FANCY DOES YOU GOOD

Flo’s centres may change with the seasons but what doesn’t change is the quality of the raw chocolate she breaks up by hand. It contains no refined sugar, and the beans are not roasted, conserving all the bio magic – nutrients such as iron, zinc, magnesium, copper, vitamin C, and antioxidants which are blasted out in most chocolate. Whilst the raw chocolate comes from Ecuador, she uses almonds from Rivesaltes, and honey and fruits from the Vallespir to keep a local flavour.

FROM BELGIUM TO THE P-O (VIA THE UK)

English speaking Florence moved to the P-O from her native Belgium in search of sunshine, carrying on the chocolate making tradition taught to her by her great grandmother, armed only with a thermometer, a blender and a ‘bain marie’. In 2016, she was awarded one of only three ‘Espoir’ prizes at the prestigious Salon du Chocolat in Paris.

A GUILT-FREE TREAT!

Flo’s raw chocolate is dairy free, mostly suitable for vegans, contains no refined sugar (which causes your chocolate cravings), or artificial additives, and will turn a guilty pleasure into a guilt-free treat!

Look out for Flo on Céret market every Saturday or pop into her Olde Worlde Chocolate shop on Wednesday or Saturday from 15h30 to 19h and Sunday from 10h – 12h30.
