The well marked route to the tower from the village of Tautavel is an A/R of 3 hours, using the same route up and down. This 4 hour, 8 km walk, with approximately 450 metres of ascent offers an alternative for a day when you would like a bit longer walk and have more time.
Still worth the fabulous walk or drive…..but you’ll have to do without the lunch until Covid restrictions allow the restaurants to open again.

A circular walk with good paths, some moderate ascent/descent along the coast and short portions of road. Walking boots recommended. Do not walk this route after heavy rain as there are several water courses to cross.

This walk starts in the Valle de Gaube, just past the small hamlet of Esposouille, which can be accessed by car from Formigueres in the Capcir.
Classed as one of the ‘Grands Site de France’ any visit to the Pyrénees-Orientales is dominated by the mystic and sacred Catalan Canigou.
The views on this walk are fabulous, overlooking Le Perthus, the Roussillon plain, and over to Canigou and Neoulous
