CargolFest 2026 – A Taste of Catalan Tradition

12–13 September | Parc de Clairfont, Toulouges | Free entry

The CargolFest returns to Toulouges on 12 and 13 September for a weekend celebrating the food, culture and traditions of Catalonia.

At the heart of the festival is the cargolade – a very Catalan tradition of cooking snails over an open fire and sharing them around the table. For visitors discovering it for the first time, it is certainly something of an enigma: the snails are grilled over hot embers and enjoyed with allioli, creating a wonderfully convivial experience that is as much about gathering together as it is about the food.

Alongside the cargolade, expect Catalan grills, pork cheek cooked with Banyuls, rousquilles and other local specialities, as well as live music, flamenco, bandas, giant figures, traditional porró drinking competitions, an artisan market and a cargolade workshop.

There will also be plenty for families, including an escargot race, children’s porró competitions and an inflatable play area.

Organised by the Team Cargols, the CargolFest is a lively celebration of Catalan identity and local know-how – a chance to experience the traditions of the Pyrénées-Orientales in a relaxed and very convivial atmosphere.

Parc de Clairfont, Toulouges – 12 & 13 September 2026. Free entry.
