FESTIVAL PELLICU-LIVE 2026 ….with Tony Goodman

Jumping at the chance to wander about Thuir’s Parc Palauda as it emerges after a long winter I attended the launch of this years Pellicu Live. A smorgasbord of a festival, quite unique.  Films, Michelin starred chefs and big bold live music. The films are a mix of comedy and drama, the chef’s present dice and slice master classes with local ingredients and the play list is bass heavy, perfect festival fare.

The running list includes Christophe Maé’s big vocals which deserves their own postcode, Massbeat a local group oft seen at Perpignan’s Le Mediator with a horn section that punches out a 80’s Miami Vice type of vibe that would put a smile on Edward J Olmos’s dial and Paco & Nico an amped up classic guitar flamenco type duo which  brings the crowd back from the bar every time with their version of AC/DC’s Thunderstruck! That alone is worth the price of a day pass.

Get there early to get close and personal with the chocolate box worthy Chateau Palauda. A  Queen Anne – Catalan red brick mash up nothing says substance better than well crafted  brickwork.  To quote L. Mies van der Rohe   “Architecture starts when you carefully put two bricks together. There it begins”

Thuir, a case book example of what a vibrant regional market town looks like never disappoints whenever we visit.
