Festa Major 2026: A Festive Saturday in Banyuls-sur-Mer

From 24 to 30 August, Banyuls-sur-Mer celebrates its traditional Festa Major — a week of Catalan traditions, music, gastronomy and festive events for all ages. Throughout the week, residents and visitors are invited to come together and enjoy the warm, lively atmosphere that makes this annual celebration such a special part of summer in Banyuls.

Nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the vineyards of the Côte Vermeille, Banyuls-sur-Mer is a town with a strong Catalan identity and a rich tradition of community celebrations. The Festa Major brings this spirit to life through music, dancing, food and activities shared by locals and visitors alike.
Saturday 29 August: An Evening of Celebration
Saturday promises a full day of entertainment, beginning with traditional games for children, organised by the Comité des fêtes. Sardanes, local festivities and a braderie at the town’s shops will add to the atmosphere throughout the day.
The main celebrations will take place in the evening on the seafront esplanade, starting at 7:00 pm with a large shared meal. Guests can enjoy grilled food prepared by Als Senglars, accompanied by fanfares and, above all, the convivial atmosphere of a meal enjoyed together by the community.
The evening will reach its spectacular highlight at 10:00 pm with the traditional fireworks display over the Bay of Banyuls — one of the most anticipated moments of the Festa Major.
The celebrations will then continue late into the night with a DJ set by Manu Perez, running until 1:00 am.
