What’s on around the region in April 2017
At first meeting, Gerard Magny, founder of Réso Bio, is a calm and quietly-spoken man….but once he starts talking about the organic produce that lines the spacious shelves of his chain of Réso Bio shops around the region, he lights up like a firework!
On the subject of putting the clocks forward, I haven’t quite grasped the logic of it but according to someone I know, if you make a start at the beginning of March and get up earlier each day, there’s a good chance that when the time comes you won’t miss that lost hour – that feeling of sleep deprivation (which grips the psyche of some people lucky enough to sleep longer than 6 hours a night) will have completely disappeared! I’m all for Nature taking its course.
If you like big colourful abstract paintings, Alain Clément’s new show
at the museum of modern art in Céret is for you! Alain Clément takes us on a Mediterranean voyage in three parts from Tuscany to Tangiers to Céret, transforming what he finds along the way into paintings and sculptures of arresting simplicity.
Red, white or blue wine
Roxane and Benjamin Parra from Estagel are importing a blue wine from Spain.
The crime serial “Les innocents” broadcast on TF1 will be filmed in the Pyrenees Orientales between May and August. Terence Films is launching a giant casting to recruit more than 600 extras. If you want to participate in this new adventure.
More than 100 teams will take part in this car rally through the Vallespir, over a circuit of 146km over the 2 days.
What’s on around the region in March 2017
Following the events in Sorède (2013) and Céret (2015), this year, the association, Initiation à la Forêt, are organising a weekend of activities and entertainment in Argelès-sur-Mer.
It’s the countdown towards the rising of the sap. The cherry and almond blossom and the mimosa are hustling for the position of Best in Show. Apricot and peach buds are bursting to show off their petals. Shrubs are being cut back, vines have been clipped and tied, camp-sites are being spruced up, weeds are being torched (yes, really) – there’s a mad dash to get everything ready for the Spring. As always, keeping a cool head in all of this is our friend Canigou reminding us that Winter is not over quite yet.
