1st September - 30th September

Hallo Everyone

August proved to be another hot one, So, So Hot, and our hearts go out to those that have been affected by the wildfires in the Aude. The sapeur-pompiers did an amazing job, for which we are all grateful. Meanwhile, suddenly we have some cooler weather – so it seems September will be a very different month.

Drop Ins

Wednesday 3rd September, Bar le Pablo, Céret, 10.30

Come along for a coffee and a chat. There will be some paperbacks to exchange and friendly faces on the terrace in the shade – or perhaps inside if it rains.

Monday 15th September, Café des Artistes, Laroque des Albères, 10.15

Come and browse through our large selection of paperbacks. Any books you bring along for exchange will be gratefully received. Sorry, but we cannot take hardbacks or non-fiction. Bring a friend and stay for a coffee.

Wednesday 17th September, Villa Lafabrègue, Prades

CSF PO will be holding a get-together in the Villa Lafabrègue in Prades for all members and friends in the PO. Everyone welcome for the cake sale, coffee, chat – and a pre-loved jewellery sale. Costume jewellery – or otherwise. (diamonds are a girl’s best friend?). There will be some great bargains to be had, and all in aid of Cancer Support France, Sud de France.

Maggie asks that you contact her if you have jewellery to donate (in boxes or plastic bags please) so that it reaches Maggie the week before. Or give to your local contact in time for the jewels to reach Maggie.

Events this month

Friday 19th September will see Septembre Turquoise taking place in the spacious entrance hall of Perpignan’s main hospital, between 10 a.m. – 3 pm., where CSF are anticipating having a stand. This event is to help women be better informed about gynaecological cancers, prevention, vaccination and treatment.

Looking ahead

Monday 17th November – A Special Event

The afternoon Quiz and tea party we have been planning (with cake, tea and Cava) will take place in Thuir in the Salle Léon J Gregory in the afternoon. The doors will open at 2.30, with the quiz starting at 3pm.

There will be a half-time break for refreshments and cake. Teams will be of 4 people. Numbers are limited but you will have the option of reserving a table in advance for a readymade team of four, or come along to make new friends and make up a team on the day. Pay your admission on the door at 10€ per person, which includes your afternoon tea and glass of bubbly. There will be a prize for the winning team.

In addition, there will be a bottle Tombola (do donate a bottle if you can), plus the sale of CSF Christmas cards.

The observant will notice that is the same day as the Laroque drop-in and book exchange. This will still take place in the morning, thanks to our energetic team of volunteers.

Please remember that if anyone is struggling or needing help, the CSF telephone (0800 240 200) and email helplines are always open. We are there for everyone needing assistance at this time, as well as those affected by cancer.
