The streets of Collioure will fill with books, writers and readers for “Un livre à la mer” from 22 to 28 August. This year’s spotlight is on literature from France’s Caribbean departments, represented by Aimé Césaire and Saint John Perse
.
Publishers and authors will line the quays where you can browse and buy to your heart’s content. Events include music, painting and sculpture. Discussions will explore the topic of slavery and the meaning of “race” in the 21st century.
The festival culminates at the Chateau Royal on Sunday 28 with the actress Marie-Christine Barrault reading poems from the two featured poets.
