Diades Catalanes and Trobada de Collas Geganteras i Bestiaris

Experience the magic of the Catalan festivities with traditional giants, dancers and musicians at this annual celebration in Thuir.

The fantastic Trobada de Thuir offer a spectacular display of the very best in Catalan traditions.

On Saturday 10 July, from 4pm, the association of the Giants of Thuir, in collaboration with the Office of Culture and Animation, are organising the Trobada de collas geganteras i bestiaris.

Last year, Pere and Victoria, the giants of Thuir, were forced to stay home, like the rest of us, but this year they’re back and bigger than ever.

The formidable pair invite various collas (groups and associations) from across Catalonia to join them in the streets and squares of Thuir, for an evening of colourful, musical festivities.

There will be representatives from Perpignan, Le Soler, Argelès-sur-Mer, Saint-Hippolyte, Elne, Les Angles, Villefranche-de-Conflent,
Casa del Conflent, Nyerros del Conflent, Aire nou de Baó, Alguaire and the Badalona Bèsties de Foc.

Join the parade in front of the Maison du Citoyen at 4pm, followed by a Cercavilla at 4.30 pm and the giant’s ball in the Place de la Cellera.

Then, when the sun goes down, enjoy a second Cercavilla at 9pm and a final grand bal in the Plaza de la República, and a series of pyrotechnic displays along boulevard Gregory from 10pm.
