Urban Ski Event, Perpignan

Here in the P-O we’re spoiled for choice in terms of skiing: Font Romeu, Les Angles, Formiguères… the list goes on! But for skiing that is truly on your door step, head to central Perpignan for an evening of floodlit skiing fun.

Last winter, the event was postponed twice, first as a mark of respect for those affected by the Millas bus crash tragedy and second due to dangerous weather conditions.

This year, the event was originally set in December as a warm-up show for the Freestyle Skiing World Championships which took place in Font Romeu. Unfortunately, due to unseasonably warm weather conditions, organisers were once again forced to postpone.

The new date has now been set: Saturday 9th February. Fingers crossed it goes off without a hitch!

Professional skiers and snow boarders from the What’s Your Name Collective in Font Romeu will perform aerial acrobatics and mind-boggling tricks in the winter installment of the King of Tricks.

A piste 70m long will be installed along Avenue du Général Leclerc (in front of the Théâtre de l’Archipel) and spectators will be able to enjoy a breath-taking snowy spectacle from the comfort of the neighbouring bars and restaurants.

For the event’s second year, you can expect twice as much snow. With 2 ski lifts instead of 1, that’s twice as much SHOW!!!!

TRAFFIC WILL BE DIFFICULT IN AND AROUND THE AREA DURING INSTALLATION, THE SHOW ITSELF AND DISMANTLING.
