VISIT OF THE NAO SANTA MARIA
The replica of Christopher Columbus’ caravel will be docked in Port Vendres from 1st – 19th August 2018.
The original vessel set sail on 12th October 1492 with sister ships, Pinta and Niña, and played a pivotal role in the discovery of America, which in turn changed the course of universal history.
The historic ship measures 29m long, 8m wide and has 4 masts. She can host a crew of more than 40 mariners.
The ship will be open to visitors everyday from 10am to 9pm. You can order tickets online here or at the harbour on arrival – but remember, there were over 8000 visits to the Hermione back in April, so you may find long queues.
After leaving Port Vendres the Nao Santa Maria will once again head over the Atlantic, more than 500 years after the maiden voyage which would mark her name on the history books for ever.
