Baguettes and Blanquette
Synopsis
Ten women from various parts of the globe find themselves living in a small town nestled in the foothills of the southern-French Pyrenees.
These are their true stories of heartbreak, joy, adventure, endurance, laughter and tears. Marriage, divorce, births and deaths. Workplace bullies, depression, families and friendships. Elephants and giraffes, treacherous roads, beautiful and terrifying locations.
Join these women as they share their journeys to their new lives in France.
A word from the editor, Jo O’Neill
“My idea for this book came from the realisation that many of us here have made the momentous decision to uproot and leave the familiar; our countries, houses, towns, jobs, families and friends, to make this area of France our new home. This is what connects us. I wanted to explore how and why we have taken this journey.
A group of strong, adventurous, beautiful women agreed to join me and tell their stories and so ‘Baguettes and Blanquette’ was born.”

This book is an excellent piece providing a delightful and heartfelt insight into the lives of those who have taken the plunge to move abroad. Certainly worth a read or two!

You know it’s a good book when the pages are curled! From the very first page, I haven’t wanted to put this book down; stealing 30 minutes of my lunch break in the staff room of the secondary school where I work, 20 minutes before the alarm goes off in the morning. I have enjoyed it immensely. So many of the journey’s I’ve read resonate with my own life growing up in Cyprus, my own dreams and stories yet to be told. I thoroughly loved reading your stories, all of them (yours too Michelle Nolan), I can’t wait to meet you all in person. So many inspiring, strong women. We’ve just bought our little house in the centre of Quillan. This year is holidays, DIY and getting to know the area a bit more. Next year is our permanent move. Reading your stories, has definitely made me realise we’ve made the right choice. Quillan most definitely has found us. Thank you for read, I didn’t want it to end.
