You may have noticed via the media that Ryanair has been canceling quite a few flights over the past few days.

CHECK OUT CANCELLED FLIGHTS HERE DAILY

It turns out that this is because they mismanaged the planning of pilot holidays and are expecting to cancel 40-50 flights every day for the next six weeks!

Affected customers with bookings up to 20 September have been informed and told “We have messed up in the planning of pilot holidays and we’re working hard to fix that,”

Apparently a backlog of staff leave has meant that many airline staff booked holidays towards the end of the year.

Up to 2,000 flights are expected to be cancelled, affecting around 400,000 passengers, with about 55 flights being cancelled per day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  This is expected to carry on for the next 6 weeks. Passengers will be offered alternative flights or refunds.

Ryanair advise customers to check the email address used to make their booking to be sure of receiving notification, and to to check the Ryanair website.

Under the European Passenger Rights legislation, travellers should also be able to claim compensation for the cancellations.

Your flight should operate as scheduled unless you have received a cancellation email. List of flights affected: http://bit.ly/2y5V7L8
