At a cost of 9 million pounds to Britain’s tax payers (34p per household), the government has created a new website and published a leaflet, ‘Why the Government believes that voting to remain in the European Union is the best decision for the UK’, aimed at persuading the public to vote to remain in the EU.
Leaflets will be distributed to every household in England. No provision has been made for sending any abroad.
The leaflet talks of the advantages of remaining in the EU, which gives “the right to live, work or study abroad in any of the 27 other member countries”,
It explains why the government believes a vote to remain in the EU is in the best interests of the people of the UK and shows some of the choices the UK would face if there were a vote to leave.
It reminds us that the UK has a special status in the EU and will neither join the Euro nor abandon border controls.
Remaining in the EU also makes it easier to keep criminals and terrorists out of the UK. Since 2004, via international cooperation.
