Girona airport TGV link
A new station connecting Girona airport to the TGV, is to be built just 1km from the airport. This will be just a 35 minutes train ride from Perpignan and Barcelona on the high speed line. It is not yet clear what kind of service will link the new station to the airport.
At a time when the future of Perpignan airport is uncertain after its take over last month by Veolia,(they also manage Nîmes and Carcassonne airports), it will be interesting to see what effect this will have on the Pyrénées-Orientales, as some believe that Veolia may favour Carcassonne over Perpignan, because of Perpignan’s proximity to Girona.
