“Cornelius le meunier hurlant” is a feature film directed by Yann Le Quellec,  and filmed in the Gard, Hérault, Pyrénées Orientales (Salses le Château) and the Aude.

Written by Yann Le Quellec, the film was adapted from the novel by Finnish author Arto Passilinna.

The main roles are played by Bonaventure Gacon, Anaïs Demoustier, Gustave Kervern, Solange Milhaud, Chritophe Paou, Camille Boitel, Guillaume Delaunay, Maxime Dambrin and Denis Lavant.

The story :

A stranger arrives at the isolated village of Castelmaure and gets the old mountain mill going again.  At first, he is warmly welcomed by the villagers – until they discover that this new miller, Cornelius Bloom, unfortunately has a rather strange problem. At the slightest provocation, he flees into the woods and howls at the moon, preventing the villagers from sleeping.

The villagers decide to arrange to have him sent to an asylum, but Cornelius, with the help of attractive horticultural consultant Carmen Cardamom, is determined to fight for his freedom.

Yann Le Quellec already knows the area well, having shot a shorter film ‘Le Quepa sur La Vilni ! ‘ which reached the official selection in Cannes in May 2013.
