Know your limits
How far is the 1km radius from your home?

The confinement measures that are currently in place allow short trips close to the home, up to 1 hour per day and within a maximum radius of 1 km for physical activity (alone or with people from your household) or for the needs of pets.

But do you know your limits?

With hefty fines for those who do not adhere to confinement rules, how can you accurately estimate this distance and stay within the 1km radius?

In the ‘Départ’ field at the top, fill in your address (you can also directly point to a place on the map using the pointer tool). Then select the ‘Isodistance’ icon. In the ‘Distance’ field, enter 1 km. Select the pedestrian mode of transport and click on ‘Calculate’ (you may need to scroll down to see this final option.

On the map, a green zone appears around the address you entered. This zone is not a perfect circle of 1 km around your home location because it is not a distance as the crow flies. It is calculated taking into account road layout and orientation.

You can change the type of map by clicking the three horizontal lines on the left of the screen. 4 common maps are suggested automatically but you can view all available map formats by clicking ‘Voir tous les fonds de cartes’.

Once you are happy with your map, you can save it and reuse it again and again. Simply click on the pile of papers icon on the right and then ‘Enregistrer la carte’. The map will then be available to retrieve as and when you like from your personal space, accessible from the star icon, top right.
