One of the finalists in the ‘meilleur burger de France’ competition to be held in Paris hails from our very own Pyrenees-Orientales.

Brice Kolmann, and his ‘burger 100% catalan’, reached the finals of this national competition to be held on 4 April in Paris. Twenty five ‘burger meisters’ from all over France will compete  to win the title of best burger in France, and 25 thousand euros.

Un burger 100% local

Brice Kolemann has run his food truck, le Airstream Burger, for 4 years – burgers and hot-dogs made from 100% local products – and his burgers are on track to become the best in France.

“I wanted to tell the story of Catalan identity and promote our specialties. I used *soubressada to mark the bread in the colours of our flag. I made a condiment from calçots, a variety of local leeks from the leek family, which is accompanied by Catalan sauce salvitxada. This burger, at once sweet, acidic and spicy, is a real explosion of flavours.

Good luck Brice. Hope your buns are winners!

*Raw, cured sausage from the Balearic Islands made with ground pork, paprika and salt and other spices.
