Restaurant Reviews – Autumn 2023
How lucky are we here in the P-O that we can still sit outside for lunch most of the year. Fresh food, fresh air, ‘un petit laine’ just in case…
Thank you as usual for your reviews. They cover a wide range of tastes, prices, and places, and they’re honest and objective, (we hope)! You might not always agree, the chef might be having a bad day, your standards might be higher….or lower – but they give you an idea of what’s available.
Late autumn and winter opening hours, days, and sometimes weeks can be a little erratic. We definitely advise phoning in advance.
Bon appétit.
Le Relais de l’Orme, Oms… with Ciaran
A walk around a beautiful mountain village and a superb lunch menu for €17.50, wine included! Definitely worth a visit, something very special happening here.

La Cuisine-Comptoir, Collioure… with Leigh and Merry
Interesting dishes and original tapas menu with great veggie and vegan options included, all full of flavour. Served on a shady terrace hidden away in the centre. We ordered two tapas each and had plenty to eat. Fresh ingredients, beautifully prepared. The menu changes daily but examples can be seen on their FB page. A selection of local beers and wines available. Booking recommended.

Chez Denise. Argelès… with Harbeer
A very nice find and experience. Quality and flavour over quantity leaves you satisfied. Perhaps the best tarte tatin I’ve had.

Relais de Sceaury, Rasiguères… with Aliette & others
The restaurant you HAVE to visit! This is one of our favourite local restaurants – fabulous food, warm friendly welcome, excellent service. Top quality food at a reasonable price. The Grand Marnier soufflé is to die for!

Le P’tit Wembley, Canet… with Karen
New restaurant opened this summer on the promenade in Canet. We had an excellent meal and excellent service. Brochettes are their main dishes – we had duck, beef, chicken & saucisse – all excellent. Frites were 10/10. Tiramisu 11/10. Excellent Sangria also – my drink and I am picky on that. We already know what we will try the next time!

66 sur Vins, Maureillas
This small, intimate restaurant (with outside terrace) sits in the middle of Maureillas and offers delicious food from a short menu (which is not a bad thing). It’s not the cheapest around but I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

L’Alto, Argeles/Palau
Unfortunately this great restaurant got hit by covid by Covid just after it opened. Impressive building set in beautiful grounds which complement the excellent fare.

Les Enfant Terribles, Laroque des Alberes
We visited twice this summer and both times we had delicious meals, sitting under the enormous palm trees, on some very balmy evenings. Service is good with well priced menus.

Can Carbo, Begur….With Maria
If you venture to this lovely village head up into the old centre to this old Indiano house with a shady terrace overlooking the square. We ate lunch choosing the menu del dia. There was plenty of choice and everything was delicious. The menu is in Catalán but the waitress helped us out. €90.20 for 4 including drinks and coffee. We’ll be back.
