Not a drive for the faint hearted, or the easily travel sick, but for lovers of wild and remote country, it is a joy!
This is one of our favourite circuits that we have done fairly regularly in the last few years. Recently there have been extensions and improvements to the EV8 cycle path which passes by Sorède, so we decided to try them out.
Cycle the region with Leigh and Merry Foster as they travel along the EV8 from Argelès sur Mer to Laroque des Albères
Merry, Leigh and the three (Cap) Béars: You can do the whole thing in one go (8km, allow 3-4 hours, about 500m ascent/descent), but we found there’s so much beautiful scenery to see on each section we were happy to spread it over a few days.
A one and a half hour circuit in the footsteps of the French and Spanish soldiers who fought in the bloody battle of Le Boulou, it is a historical eye opener. Stunning views over the Albères, Roussillon plain as far as the Med and across to Mount Canigo, are a stark contrast to the bloody tableau of wounded and dying, which once stained this peaceful landscape.
This classic tour of the Capcir plateau follows good footpaths, waymarked in yellow and takes around 6 hours, starting and ending in Les Angles village centre
Leading into Les Angles, a wooden boardwalk round a small lake, [Jaca D’en Calvet] and picnic tables for wheelchairs, with bench seats on one side and space for the wheelchair on the other.
