Between January and September 2017, the gendarmes recorded 4,000 speeding offences with mobile speed traps, 18 000 offences with the ‘nouvelle génération’ roadside radars, and a massive 68,456 tickets were issued after being flashed by fixed radars.

And which speed trap wins the prize this year for the most flashes? It’s the one on the RD 81 in Torreilles which holds the record with 26,657 flashes, followed by Saint-Génis-des-Fontaines on RD 618 (14,732), Bourg-Madame on RN116 (10,451), Toulouges on RD612 (10,199) and Villeneuve-de-la-Raho on RD8 (8,414). All flash in both directions!
