Leonard Cohen fans will surely remember this well known song from his 1969 album, ‘Songs from a Room’.

Le Partisan was also released by Joan Baez and Buffy Sainte-Marie, but the orignal was actually a poem written during the occupation by Emmanuel D’Astier de la Vigerie, soldier in the FFF (Free French Forces). It was put to music in 1943 and sung by  Anna Marly. Later, the song was translated into English by Hy Zaret, known for having written “Unchained Melody.” by the Righteous Brothers’.
